Immunizations
The Lehigh University Health and Wellness Center requires the following immunizations or evidence of immunity. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in your registration being blocked at Lehigh.
TETANUS-DIPHTHERIAÂ - Primary series of either DPT,DT, or Td.
A Tetanus or Tdap (Tetanus with Pertussis) booster is required within the last 10 years.
MEASLES, MUMPS, RUBELLA (MMR)Â - A series of 2 doses
HEPATITIS BÂ - Series of 3 doses
POLIOÂ - A series of 4 doses (either orally or injection)
VARICELLA (CHICKENPOX)Â - A series of 2 doses or documented case of chickenpox
MENINGOCOCCAL (MENINGITIS)Â - The Lehigh University Health and Wellness Center sponsors a vaccination drive each fall to combat this potentially life threatening infection. The state of Pennsylvania mandates that all college students either receive the meningitis vaccine OR sign a waiver declining the vaccine. You can call the Health and Wellness Center at (610) 758-3870 at any time for more information on the availability of the vaccine.
TUBERCULOSIS SKIN TESTING - All international students are required to have an intradermal skin test upon arrival to campus. A recent (1-2 years) skin test is recommended to all students, especially those who have traveled to high risk areas or who have other high risk exposure (hospital, nursing home, etc.). Students with a history of a "positive" TB skin test must show evidence of a recent chest x-ray and documentation of treatment. Â
The following vacines are recommended by the CDC and should be strongly considered.
HEPATITIS AÂ - series of 2 injections given 6 months apart
GARDISIL FOR HPVÂ - A series of 3 injections over 6 months
We urge you to review and update your immunization status to protect against disease.
TETANUS-DIPHTHERIAÂ - Primary series of either DPT,DT, or Td.
A Tetanus or Tdap (Tetanus with Pertussis) booster is required within the last 10 years.
