Lehigh Drops High-Scoring Affair Wednesday at Rider
4/15/2026 5:44:00 PM | Softball
Junior Holly Lovett and first-year Megan Lodge both had three hits as Lehigh out-hit Rider 14-7, but the Broncs' 4-2 edge in home runs was enough to secure the one run victory.
Lehigh is now 21-22 on the season, while Rider improves to 20-18.
Senior Sydney Parlett staked Lehigh to the early 3-0 lead with a three-run home run in the first inning, her third of the season.
Rider came back to tie the game at 3-3 behind a Maddie Luedtke home run in the first, a Kendall Reda-Fehsal homer in the second and then an error in the second that allowed the tying run to score.
Lehigh loaded the bases with nobody out in the third. Lodge brought Crysta Duenas home with an infield single to put the Mountain Hawks up 4-3. A pop-up double play prevented Lehigh from adding to its lead.
Luedtke's second home run of the game put the Broncs in front 5-4 in the bottom of the third. Reda-Fehsal hit her second long ball of the day, a two-run shot, to extend Rider's lead to 7-4 after five innings.
Lodge led off the sixth with a single and scored Lehigh's fifth run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of sophomore Kelly Fricker. Rider answered with two runs in the sixth to take a 9-5 lead into the seventh inning.
Lovett led off the seventh inning with a double to right center, her third hit of the game. Lodge later came up with two on and two out and lifted her fifth home run of the season out to left field, bringing the Mountain Hawks within 9-8. First-year Kyra Neiswender followed with a double to left to put the tying run in scoring position, but Rider's Kiersten Buchanan grabbed Maia D'Amico's sinking line drive at second base to end the game.

First-year Maddie Masiko started in the circle and allowed three runs (two earned) over two innings. Junior Maddie Clark followed, allowing four runs (three earned) over three innings, before giving way to sophomore Madison Finnerty, who allowed two runs in the sixth. Clark had the only two strikeouts for Lehigh pitching.
The Mountain Hawks return to Patriot League play this weekend with three games at Bucknell. A doubleheader is set for Saturday at noon followed by a single game Sunday at noon.
