Reigle and Brewer Take Gold on Day One of Patriot League Championships

BOSTON - The Patriot League Championships kicked off on Saturday at Boston University. Lehigh sits in fourth place after day one of two with 29 points.
Corinn Brewer got the win in the Pentathlon, scoring a personal best 3543 points. The senior earned personal best marks in the shot put (10.21) and 800 (2:15.40). She won the 800 meter run, jumping from fourth to first to get herself the gold. Sophomore Anna Troutman also added three points to Lehigh's total with a sixth place finish. She scored a personal best 3233 points, thanks to a new personal record in the 800 and a win in the high jump.
Laura Reigle took home gold in the pole vault final. This is her second indoor title in the event, bookending her career after winning as a first-year. She tied the meet record and her own school record with a 4.10 meter vault.
Two finals in the field events got the meet underway. Grace Aggen was Lehigh's sole competitor in the weight throw. The senior threw a personal best 14.78 meters to place 13th. Grace Nation was the top placing Mountain Hawk in the long jump final as she landed in ninth. The senior equaled her personal best of 5.56 meters.
Junior Grace Hughes and senior Lucy Afanasewicz were Lehigh's leaders in the mile. After being involved in a major collision that landed them both lying on the track, the duo rallied and finished in 11th (4:55.03) and 13th (4:56.57), respectively. Junior Hope Trimmer's new personal best time of 4:58.74 ranked her just behind in 14th.
Lehigh had two 400 meter runners place in the top four in the preliminary rounds to advance to the final. Senior Grace Kennedy placed third, running a school record 54.90 doing so. She becomes the only Mountain Hawk to break the 55 second mark indoors. Jade Sanders also ran a personal best, crossing the line in 55.53. The sophomore's mark ranked fourth in the preliminaries. First-year Kayleigh Jamieson broke her personal record as well, running 56.82 to place 11th and move up to fourth on Lehigh's all-time indoor performance list.
Senior Abby Klebe ran her way into the final of the 800 once again. The five-time Patriot League 800 meter champion ran 2:08.84, giving her the seventh spot.
First-year Lyssi Penn finished ninth in the 60 meter hurdles as Lehigh's top hurdler, running 8.99.
Gianna Mangili broke her own school record in the 60 meter dash, running 7.64. She placed seventh in the field, advancing the senior to the final. First-year Harper Glennon placed twelfth in the event, tying her personal best time of 7.70.
In the 5000 meter final, Kaitlyn Highduch placed sixth with a 16:57.70 run. This was a massive 27-second personal best for the sophomore, and it makes her the third fastest indoor 5000 meter runner in Lehigh history. Her placement earns three points for the Mountain Hawks.
Lehigh had four runners reach the top 25 in the 200 meter dash. Sanders led the way in 15th, running 25.05. Mangili and Glennon both ran personal bests to move up one spot each on Lehigh's performance list. Mangili ran 25.11 (18th) to move up to fourth, and Glennon moved up to fifth with a 25.20 finish (22nd). Kennedy placed right behind Glennon in 23rd, running a season's best 25.32.
The final event of the day was the 4x800 relay. Afanasewicz, Lauren Bower, Zoe Louis, and Amber Barrios collectively ran 9:02.04 to place sixth and score three points.
Sunday's events will begin at 11 a.m. and will conclude Lehigh's indoor season. All Patriot League Championships sessions will be aired on ESPN+.
