Klebe Wins Gold to Hoist Lehigh to Fourth Place Finish at Patriot League Championships

BOSTON - The Patriot League Championships concluded on Sunday with day two at Boston University. Lehigh finished in fourth place with 74 points.
Senior Abby Klebe won the 800 meter run in wild fashion. She and Army West Point's Cherokee Chambers gunned it to the line side-by-side, and in the commotion Klebe got tripped up and dove across the line. She crossed in a meet record and school record time of 2:04.95, earning gold over Chambers by one-thousandth of a second. This is Klebe's third straight indoor 800 meter championship win and her sixth win including the outdoor championships.
Grace Kennedy earned bronze in the 400 meter run, breaking her own school record in the process. After setting the school record the day prior, the senior smashed it again, running 54.66 to earn six points. Sophomore Jade Sanders earned points as well, placing fifth with a personal best time of 55.34.
The final day of competition kicked off with two finals in the field events. Senior Grace Aggen took the final top 10 spot in the shot put, throwing 13.30 meters. Two Lehigh athletes scored points in the triple jump as senior Grace Nation placed sixth and graduate student Casey Talamini-Kelemen earned second. Nation leaped 11.55 meters and Talamini-Kelemen got 11.51.
In the 60 meter dash, senior Gianna Mangili placed sixth. The senior added three points to Lehigh's total from her 7.71-second race.
Lehigh had two athletes in the 3000 meter final to place in the top half of the field, with one scoring points. Grace Hughes placed sixth with a time of 9:42.90. This was a massive 15-second personal best for the junior, who became the second fastest 3000 meter runner in Lehigh history. Sophomore Kaitlyn Highduch also set a new personal record, crossing the line at 9:50.86 to place 13th. She moves onto Lehigh's all-time indoor performance list in the eighth spot.
Anna Troutman tok fourth in the high jump final. The sophomore cleared the 1.66 meter height, scoring five points for Lehigh.
In the distance medley relay, the team consisting of Zoe Louis, Lanae Carrington, Amber Barrios and Lucy Afanasewicz finished sixth. The Mountain Hawk quartet collectively ran 11:54.93 to score three points.
The Mountain Hawks ended the meet with a bronze medal in the 4x400 relay. Kennedy, Sanders, Kayleigh Jamieson, and Kasey White put together a new school record by finishing in 3:43.18.
Boston University won the team championship for the second year in a row, scoring 188 points.
