Snow, DeNicola Score Six Apiece As Lehigh Wins Second In Two Days

NEW YORK - An offensive effort led by six goals apiece from Molly Snow and Nina DeNicola, pushed Lehigh past Columbia 18-15 on Saturday night.
"We faced adversity with our quick game change and overcame with a massive team win! This team always finds a way to get it done and that was on display tonight," said head coach Steph Lazo. "This win took all 33 of us and I am so proud of how we played 33 strong for 60 minutes!"
Snow capped off a 14-point weekend with six goals and one assist, tying her single-game career high in goals. With six goals tonight, DeNicola broke her recently established single-game high, eclipsing the five-goal performance she had against Loyola last weekend.
The Mountain Hawks got off to a hot start, taking a 5-1 lead with two goals from DeNicola by 2:38 in the first quarter. Snow netted her second to round out the quarter, as Lehigh led 6-3 heading into the second.
Columbia opened the second period with momentum, going on a three-goal run to tie the game at 6-6 at 10:16. DeNicola broke up the run with back-to-back goals within a minute.
The Lions climbed back, scoring four unanswered goals before DeNicola halted the run again. Columbia found the back of the net with 22 seconds left, Snow put Lehigh within one with three seconds on the clock, as the Mountain Hawks trailed 11-10 at the half.
Snow evened the score at 11-11 with a free position goal to open the second half scoring. DeNicola continued the energy with her sixth score, before Snow tallied her fifth less than 30 seconds later. Shannon Nolan joined the run as Lehigh took a 14-11 lead with 10:18 remaining in the third quarter.
A lull in scoring ensued, as the next goal came at 3:47 when Snow converted on a free position shot. Columbia secured the following draw, leading to its first goal of the second half. Chloe DelNegro tallied back-to-back goals within 20 seconds, as the Mountain Hawks led 17-12 going into the fourth quarter.
Grace Martel extended the advantage to 18-12, netting her second goal of the night off of Kacie Wines' third assist of the game. The Lions closed out the game with three unanswered scores, as Lehigh claimed the 18-15 victory over the Ivy League foe.
Micaela Jennings got the start in goal, making four saves in the first half. Jane Hughes came in for the second half, recording three saves and her first win as a Mountain Hawk. Columbia also split time between two goalkeepers, with Ava Kimche making two saves in the first 33:40. Katherine Ebeling recorded one save, conceding Lehigh's final five goals.
Ava Jennings led Lehigh in caused turnovers with two, while DelNegro paced the Mountain Hawks with three ground balls. Nolan was the top gatherer of draw controls with five, while Snow contributed four.
The game against the Lions was originally slated for Sunday, but moved up due to expected winter weather.
Lehigh (2-2) returns home to the Ulrich Sports Complex for a matchup with LaSalle next Saturday at 3 p.m.
