No. 4 Lehigh To Face No. 1 Holy Cross In Patriot League Championship Semifinal Round

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The road to the Patriot League Championship begins on Saturday for No. 4 Lehigh baseball as they head to Worcester, Massachusetts to take on No. 1 Holy Cross in the semifinal round. The series kicks off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 followed by game two on Sunday, May 11 at 1 p.m. Game three will be immediately after game two if necessary.
Lehigh (23-24, 11-14 PL) is making its first appearance in the Patriot League Championship since 2022. Lehigh is 4-5 all-time in the postseason against Holy Cross (27-22, 17-8 PL), with the last meeting between the two coming in the semifinals in 2016. The Crusaders won the season series 4-1, including two of three in last weekend's series.
The Mountain Hawks will be making consecutive weekend trips to Worcester, as the team concluded the regular season on the road at Holy Cross. Lehigh won game two by a score of 10-4, punching their ticket to the tournament in the process.
Senior OF Jake Whitlinger was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year on Wednesday, becoming the first-ever recipient of the award in Lehigh history. Whitlinger also earned a spot on the All-Patriot League Second Team while junior IF Aidan Quinn (First Team), first-year RHP Cole Kochanowicz (Second Team) and senior DH Justin Butler (Second Team) joined him receiving postseason recognition.
Junior C Owen Walewander was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team on Thursday. Walewander has a cumulative 3.55 GPA while studying accounting at Lehigh.
Quinn has been a consistent bat in Lehigh's lineup all season long, leading the team with a .323 batting average, 50 hits and a Patriot League leading 48 RBIs. Whitlinger etched his name in Lehigh's record books this season, becoming the program leader in runs scored (188) and stolen bases (72). Kochanowicz has won Patriot League Rookie of the Week four times and leads Lehigh with a 2.36 ERA and 6-1 record, including a 1.29 ERA and 4-0 record in league play. Butler has hit four home runs on the season, placing him second all-time in Lehigh history with 29.
The Crusaders are enjoying their best regular season in Patriot League history, posting a program-best 17 league wins in 2025. Holy Cross is the number one seed in the Patriot League Championship for only the second time in team history (2013). The Crusaders are led by Patriot League Coach of the Year Ed Kahovec, Player of the Year CJ Egrie and Pitcher of the Year Jaden Wywoda.
The winner of the weekend series will face the winner of No. 2 Navy and No. 3 Army West Point in the Patriot League Championship series the following weekend.
