BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh baseball will make the quick trip east to Easton on Wednesday afternoon for a pivotal Patriot League matchup against rival Lafayette. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. from Kamine Stadium.
Lehigh (17-17, 6-9 PL) sits one game behind Lafayette (11-26, 7-8 PL) in the Patriot League standings ahead of Wednesday's clash. The Leopards are currently in the fourth and final seed of next month's Patriot League Championship, but the Mountain Hawks would overtake that spot and take the season series should they win on Wednesday.
The Mountain Hawks and Leopards met for a four-game series on March 28-30. Lehigh defeated Lafayette 5-3 in game one off the heels of a Raffaele Rogers go-ahead home run in the eighth inning. The Leopards responded the next day with a doubleheader sweep of the Mountain Hawks before Lehigh evened the series at 2-2 with an 8-1 win on Sunday.
This past weekend, Lehigh squared off on the road against Army West Point for a three-game series. The Mountain Hawks were bested in both games of Sunday's doubleheader. However, Junior Aidan Quinn delivered a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning of game three on Monday that gave the Mountain Hawks the victory.
Junior David Andolina is slated to start on the mound for Lehigh on Wednesday. Andolina has posted an 8.87 ERA across ten appearances and five starts on the season.
The Leopards enter Wednesday's contest having won five of their last seven games. Lafayette played Navy in a three-game series over the weekend, taking game one 4-3 before dropping games two and three to the Midshipmen.
Patrick Walega will start at pitcher for the Leopards. The junior has a 7.50 ERA across seven appearances and three starts.
