Lehigh Sweeps Loyola 7-0 To Open Home Patriot League Slate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's tennis played its first Patriot League home match on Sunday morning from the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts, welcoming the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds to Goodman Campus. The Mountain Hawks took care of business, sweeping the Greyhounds 7-0.
Lehigh (8-7, 2-1 PL) earned a decisive doubles point over Loyola (2-13, 0-5 PL), picking up wins at all three matches. Jose Murariu and Luke Donovan got things started with a 6-3 win at number two followed by a 6-3 win from Rafael Gracie and Wyeth Anzilotti at number three to clinch. Marc Blekhman and Sean Jaeger won 7-5 at number one to complete the doubles sweep.
Blekhman secured the first singles win for Lehigh at number two when his opponent retired in the first set with the score 5-1 in Blekhman's favor. Gracie then defeated his opponent with a swift 6-1, 6-2 decision to put the Mountain Hawks one win away from clinching the dual meet victory. Jackson Morash's two-set win at number four gave Lehigh its second Patriot League win of the season.
Following the clinch, Murariu claimed a two-set win over Loyola's Noah Castillo at number one. Jaeger also earned a two-set win at number three to make it 6-0 Mountain Hawks. In the final match of the day, Victor Imanishi defeated Trevor Girandola in a hard-fought third set tiebreaker.
The Mountain Hawks will next host NJIT on Wednesday, April 2 at 3:30 p.m.
