Mountain Hawks Fall To Army In Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh Mountain Hawks fell 19-8 to the Army West Point Black Knights on Friday night in Bethlehem.

Allison Reilly led the Black Knights with eight points off seven goals and one assist. Geneva Milch Cesoni added four goals. Army won the draw control battle 19-12 with Sarah Chernik leading the way with 10.

Army took a 7-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, with Molly Snow netting the lone goal off an assist from Kacie Wines for the Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh opened the second quarter with two goals, featuring one from Snow and a player-up goal from Gracie Shoup as Army led 7-3 with 10:48 left in the half.

The Black Knights responded with three goals, taking a 10-3 lead with 6:03 on the clock. Grace Martel broke up the run with a Lehigh goal, cutting Army's lead to 10-4. Army and Lehigh traded goals to close out the half, with Quinn Meyer scoring a free position goal as the Black Knights led 11-5 at halftime.

Wines kicked off the second half with a goal, as Lehigh trailed 11-6 with 13:03 left in the third. The Black Knights answered with a four-goal run, holding a 15-6 advantage. With five minutes left in the third, Snow struck again as Army led 15-7 going into the fourth quarter.

Reilly gave Army a 16-7 lead early in the fourth quarter, before Martel inched Lehigh back to 16-8. Army closed out the game with three goals, securing a 19-8 league win.

Lehigh goalkeeper Julia DeLitta made 13 saves and collected two groundballs. In addition to her two goals, Martel led Lehigh in draw controls with six and added two caused turnovers.
