
Lehigh Drops 12-6 Decision To Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell Bison defeated the Lehigh Mountain Hawks 12-6 on Wednesday night in Lewisburg.

Bucknell struck first, as Alex Nesbitt gave the Bison a 1-0 lead with 12:20 to go in the first quarter. The Mountain Hawks answered with a goal from Angelina Pino to tie the game at 1-1 with just under nine minutes left in the quarter.

The Bison responded with back-to-back goals, taking a 3-1 lead with 18 seconds left. Lehigh earned possession following the goal, in which Quinn Meyer fed a ball into Gracie Shoup who made it a 3-2 game in the final seconds of the first.

Kicking off the second quarter, Bucknell's Alex Macutek had back-to-back scores, extending the Bison lead to 5-2 with 13:05 on the clock.Â

Lehigh kicked off a three-goal run, spurred by Shannon Nolan's first goal of the contest at 12:05. Grace Martel added another goal before Nolan struck again, as Lehigh evened the score at 5-5. Bucknell closed out the half on a two-goal run, to lead 7-5 at intermission.

Bucknell maintained its momentum from the end of the first half, extending its lead to 8-5 with 13:21 on the clock in the third period. The Bison scored once again, holding a 9-5 advantage.Â

Molly Snow broke up the run as Lehigh trailed 9-6 with 9:15 on the clock.

Bucknell's Megan Krestinski scored her third goal of the night as the score swung 10-6 in the Bison's favor. The Bison struck twice more to round out the game as they held on to secure the 12-6 Patriot League victory.

Lehigh held a 12-9 advantage in draw controls, as Snow led with five and Grace Martel added four. Snow, Meyer and Kenna Winters all recorded two caused turnovers for the Mountain Hawks.

Senior goalkeeper Julia DeLitta had 10 saves while her Bucknell counterpart Colleen Kazanjian also made 10.

Lehigh (3-6, 0-3 PL) continues on the road on Saturday with a contest at Loyola, scheduled for noon.
