RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Lehigh women's tennis secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over UC Riverside on Monday afternoon in the first of four consecutive matches in California over spring break. With the win, the Mountain Hawks improved to 6-2, while the Highlanders dropped to 4-11.

"I'm super proud of the fight this group showed today," said head coach Sophia Geier. "Down 3-1, we never flinched. We just kept battling and believing. To come back and win 4-3 in our first outdoor match of the season against a team that plays outside year-round speaks volumes about the toughness and heart of this team. I couldn't be happier."

The Highlanders won the doubles point to start the match. Lehigh faced an uphill battle from the beginning as Maggie Forkner and Allyce Gaborik fell 6-3, and Ronit Khromchenko and Alina Shyani lost 6-4. Audrey Harrington and Hamsa Javagal were tied at 5-5 when UC Riverside clinched the doubles point.

In singles action, Allyce Gaborik was defeated 6-0, 6-1, giving UC Riverside the first singles point. However, Javagal responded for Lehigh, securing the Mountain Hawks' first point with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Crystal Ki at the No. 2 singles spot.

Maggie Forkner dropped her match 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot, leaving Lehigh down 3-1. But the Mountain Hawks showed their resilience, winning the next three points to claim the victory.
Shyani was down a set 6-3 at No. 3 singles but mounted an impressive comeback, winning the next two sets 6-2, 6-4 to keep Lehigh alive.

Khromchenko also triumphed in a hard-fought three-set match at the No .6 singles spot. After taking the first set 6-4 and losing the second 6-2, she rallied to win 6-1 in the final set
