
Lehigh Announces Outdoor Track and Field Schedule

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – As the weather outside begins to warm up the Lehigh track and field teams have eyes set on the outdoor season. The Mountain Hawks have announced their outdoor track and field schedules, that will feature eight consecutive weekends of competition.

Lehigh's javelin throwers will kick off the outdoor campaign when the Mountain Hawks head to Elon's Phoenix Invitational, Friday in North Carolina.

The first full-squad event of the outdoor season will be March 22 at the Keystone Challenge hosted by Shippensburg.

The month of March will conclude with a full-squad event at the Monmouth Season Opener in New Jersey. The throwers will kick off competition on March 28, with the rest of the track and field team joining in on the action the following day.

April begins with the annual Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet, April 5 in Easton. Lehigh has won the last 11 outdoor dual meets on the men's side and the last seven on the women's side. The Mountain Hawks will be going for another season sweep after taking wins in both genders during the cross country and indoor seasons.

The Mountain Hawks will send a full squad to the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa., April 12-13 before embarking on a multi-meet weekend April 18-19. Lehigh's top athletes will head to Charlottesville, Va., for the Virginia Challenge while other Mountain Hawks will compete at Moravian's Coach Pollard Invite. Lehigh could also have athletes at the Rutgers Relays or the Widener Invitational.

The final weekend of the regular season will feature athletes who qualify competing at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, April 24-26. Lehigh will also host its annual Carol and John Covert Classic, April 25-26 on the Goodman Track and Field Complex.

Holy Cross will host the Patriot League Championships, May 2-3 in Worcester, Mass. Both Lehigh teams finished fifth at last year's outdoor championship meet. Earlier this month the women finished fourth and the men sixth at the Patriot League Indoor Championships in Annapolis, Md.

After a weekend off from competition, the Mountain Hawks will send a contingent to the ECAC/IC4A Championships, May 16-17 in Fairfax, Va.

For athletes who qualify, the NCAA East Regionals will take place in Jacksonville, Fla., May 28-31, while the NCAA Championships are set for Eugene, Ore., June 11-14.
