Mountain Hawks Compete At Fastrack Nationals

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – After picking up their 11th consecutive indoor track meet victory over rival Lafayette last weekend, Lehigh men's track and field returned to action at Fastrack Nationals at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday.

JUMPS
Senior Skyler Mott was victorious in the high jump, claiming first place with a 2.00m jump. First-year Nick Bressi took 14th at 1.85m.
In the pole vault, first-year Sayyidakbar Akbarov took fourth place with a 4.35m jump while sophomore Eli Johnson matched him with a 4.35m fourth place finish.
First-year Jaden Ferguson earned a fifth place finish in the long jump at 6.84m. Junior Daniel Givens finished in 20th at 6.38m while sophomore Andrew Clark was 22nd with a 6.21m.
Senior Jordan Layos competed in the triple jump, taking sixth place with a jump of 13.68m.
In the long jump open, first-year Tyler VerSchure placed 22nd with a 5.83m jump while Layos finished right behind him in 23rd at 5.82m.

MID-DISTANCE, DISTANCE
Five student-athletes competed in the 5k, led by sophomore Noah Zahn with a sixth place finish in 14:55.50. Sophomore Dylan Cunningham took 16th with a time of 15:23.84 followed by first-year Charlie Butler (18th, 15:30.14), junior Max Leffler (19th, 15:31.28) and junior Connor Malinger (21st, 15:34.52).
In the 3k race, first-year Will Mrozinski led the way with a 25th place finish in 8:51.45. He was followed by first-year Ben Connell (28th, 8:55.36), junior Henry Burd (30th, 8:56.80), junior Adam Barbato (31st, 8:57.06) and sophomore Derek Coceano (46th, 9:07.62).
Lehigh took home first place in the 4000m distance medley relay. The team of senior Aidan Lynch, sophomore Thomas Smigo, first-year Ian Zalewski and senior Kevin Harvey finished first in 10:03.65.
SPRINTS/HURDLES
Sophomore Nathan Oliphant finished in seventh place in the 60m hurdles final with a time of 8.31.
Senior Patrez Thomas, sophomore Logan Haverkamp and first-year Austin Iburg competed in the 400m dash for Lehigh. Thomas placed 20th at 50.45, Haverkamp took 45th at 51.43 while Iburg placed 47th at 51.51.
In the 200m sprint, first-year Quinten Slaughter nabbed a 14th place finish with a time of 22.27.
Haverkamp, Iburg, Thomas and Slaughter all teamed up in the 4x400m, finishing fifth with a time of 3:22.19.
In the 60m dash invitational final, sophomore Eddie Moore finished in seventh place with a time of 6.98. In the 60m open final, senior Jonathan Bennett finished in seventh place at 7.17 while sophomore Aidan Dibuono took 51st at 7.43. Clark took 15th at 9.37 in the 60m hurdles open final while first-year Neves Hoose took 18th at 9.47.

THROWS
Senior Liam Lovering, junior Joseph Nowakowski and first-year Joshua Porter competed in the shot put for Lehigh. Nowakowski took fifth with a 14.79m throw, Lovering was seventh at 14.22m and Porter took 23rd at 11.71m.
In the weight throw, Lovering took second place with a toss of 16.54m. Senior Ethan McHugh took seventh at 14.77m, junior Sharan Shankar placed 11th at 13.32m while Porter finished in 18th at 12.74m.

The Mountain Hawks return to action next weekend at the Indoor Classic hosted by Widener at the University of Pennsylvania on February 14-15.
