Werwaiss Grabs Bronze on Day Three of Patriots

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lehigh women's swimming and diving team made waves on day three of the Patriot League Championships at the Kinney Natatorium, continuing to shine with strong performances.

Senior Willa Werwaiss secured Lehigh's second medal of the championships, earning bronze in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.01. Her third-place finish earned 27 points for the Mountain Hawks. Junior Mairin Ludwig followed closely behind, placing fifth in the same event with a time of 1:50.61, adding 24 points to the team total. Senior Maggie Mikalic placed second in the C-Final, finishing 19th overall with a time of 1:52.92 in the 200-yard freestyle.

In the 100-yard butterfly, first-year Clara Moschella made a splash, competing in the first A-Final of her collegiate career. She finished seventh with a season-best time of 54.62. Junior Caitlin Deitch also had a standout performance, taking second in the B-Final and placing 10th overall with a time of 54.46.

The Mountain Hawks had three swimmers in the 100-yard breaststroke, where sophomore Eliza earned an 11th-place finish with a time of 1:04.68, scoring 16 points for the team. Zoe Davies finished 16th with a time of 1:06.11, while Caitlin Hofmann placed 22nd with a time of 1:06.49.

Hofmann also represented Lehigh in the 400-yard IM, where she secured seven points with an 18th-place finish, clocking in at 4:31.51.

In the 100-yard backstroke, first-year Clair Coughlin was Lehigh's lone swimmer in the C-Finals, finishing 20th with a time of 57.02 and adding five points to the team's total.

In the one-meter dive, senior Sarah Gill advanced to the B-Final, finishing 12th with 241.94 points, earning 16 points for Lehigh. Sophomore Kate Whitaker placed 19th with 224.25 points, while first-year Ashlyn Bardack finished 32nd with 195.15 points.

Lehigh's 200-yard medley relay team, consisting of Deitch, Werwaiss, Ludwig, and Moschella, wrapped up day three with a strong performance, winning the second heat for a seventh-place mark (1:33.64)

After day three of the championships, Lehigh sits in sixth place with 470 points.
