
Ludwig Captures Bronze on Second Day of Patriots

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Mairin Ludwig earned Lehigh's first medal of the day at the Patriot League Championships, securing third place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:51.26.
The 500-yard freestyle proved to be Lehigh's strongest event of the day, with four Mountain Hawks competing in the finals. Ludwig and sophomore Willa Werwaiss both qualified for the A-Final, where Werwaiss finished eighth with a time of 4:58.08.
Senior Maggie Mikalic added 12 points for Lehigh, placing 15th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.56. Freshman Natalie Martin also contributed, finishing 20th with a time of 4:59.74 and earning five points.
The Mountain Hawks had a strong showing in the 200-yard IM as well. In her first Patriot League Championships, first-year Clara Moschella claimed victory in the C-Final, finishing 17th with a time of 2:05.12. Lehigh also had a trio of swimmers competing in the back-to-back-to-back heats: Eliza Meth placed 22nd (2:06.66), Monica Wintermute finished 23rd (2:07.95), and Claire Coughlin came in 24th (2:09.21).
In the 50-yard freestyle, Caitlin Deitch was the lone Mountain Hawk competing, securing 15 points with a 12th-place finish in the B-Final (23.53).
Lehigh wrapped up day two of the championships with a seventh-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as Werwaiss, Moschella, Ludwig and first-year Zoe Davies won the second heat with a time of 3:45.22. After the second day of competition, the Mountain Hawks are in fifth place overall.
