BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's track and field team opened their season at home as they hosted Fast Times Before Finals at Rauch Fieldhouse. The meet started with some field events and pentathlon on Friday afternoon, and continued on Saturday with the rest of the competition.

The competition kicked off with weight throw and pole vault on Friday. Junior Avery Dowkus took second in the weight throw, tossing 15.30 meters in her season opener. Senior Grace Aggen placed not far behind in fifth, with her 14.55-meter throw being a new indoor personal best. Senior Laura Reigle opened her season with a win in the pole vault, she jumped 3.80 meters.

The Mountain Hawks controlled three of the top four spots on the Pentathlon table. Senior Corinn Brewer led the way. Due to wins in the 800 and long jump and indoor personal bests in four of the five events, Brewer earned the win with 3530 points and the fourth place spot on the all-time indoor performance list. Junior Emma Sanford placed second with 3306 points, winning the shot put and securing indoor personal bests in the high and long jumps in the process. Sophomore Anna Troutman placed fourth in the competition. She scored 3150 points, winning the high jump and 60-meter hurdles en route to an indoor personal best score.

Field events continued into Saturday, where Lehigh took home three event wins. Dowkus and Aggen continued their success in the shot put. Aggen took the win with a 13.53 meter throw, and Dowkus threw 12.47 meters to finish second. Lehigh also took the top two spots in the high jump. Junior Gaea DePass won the event, jumping 1.61 meters, and senior Melanie LaCorte jumped 1.56 to place second. The Mountain Hawks swept the top three in the triple jump, the trio consisting of senior Grace Nation (1st, 11.22), graduate student Casey Talamini-Kelemen (2nd, 11.21), and first-year Charlotte DeForest (3rd, 10.51). Nation also reached the podium in the long jump. Her indoor personal best jump of 5.27 meters earned her third place.

The Mountain Hawks championed five of the six individual track events at the meet. Sophomore Jade Sanders opened it up with a 59.12-second 400, earning her first collegiate event win. First-years Lyssi Penn and Harper Glennon opened up their collegiate careers with event wins. Penn won the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.06. Glennon led the 60-meter field running 7.81, which earned her fifth place all-time for Lehigh. In both of those events, Lehigh claimed second place as well. First-year Maggie Scalzo (9.13) in the hurdles, and senior Gianna Mangili (7.85) in the sprint. Glennon and Scalzo also finished in the top five in the 200. Scalzo ran 26.78 to finish fourth, and Glennon ran 26.80 to finish third. However, it was senior Grace Kennedy who was the fastest Lehigh runner in that event, as she ran 26.31 to place third.

Lehigh did not just win the remaining two events, but took at least the top two spots. Senior Abby Klebe dominated the 1000, winning in 2:50.44. Senior Dakota Russell (3:06.97) placed second, and sophomore Isabel Owens (3:09.61) came third to complete the podium sweep. First-year Kayleigh Jamieson won the 500 in her collegiate debut. Her time of 1:16.59 earned her ninth on Lehigh's all-time performance list. Sophomore Lanae Carrington finished second with a personal best time (1:17.54).

The Mountain Hawks took the win in both relay events of the day. The squad of Elizabeth Jenulis, Jacqueline Gifford, Lily Schindler, and Lucy Afanasewicz took the win in the 4x800, running 9:40.77. Lehigh followed that up by winning the 4x400. Klebe, Kennedy, Carrington, and Lauren Bower held the lead from start to finish, crossing the line at 4:00.87.

The next chance to compete comes in a month's time, as the Mountain Hawks will compete at the Penn Select meet in Philadelphia on January 10.
