BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's swimming and diving hosted Lafayette on Friday night at Jacobs Pool in The Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, part of Jefferson Health. The Mountain Hawks collected their 34th straight rivalry victory, winning 211-89.
There were two pool records that fell in this competition, both at the hands of sophomore Jack Deppe. Deppe smashed the 400-yard individual medley record, swimming 3:39.23 en route to a first place finish. He was also part of the 400-yard freestyle relay that broke the Jacobs Pool record. Deppe was joined by sophomore Chase Bearley, sophomore Davis Woerner, and first-year Braeden Roach as the squad swam a record 3:00.67 to take the win.
Deppe also placed second in two other events. He finished right behind Roach in the 200-yard freestyle. Roach won the event in a personal best time of 1:39.47, and Deppe was right behind with a collegiate best swim of 1:40.07. Lehigh also took third in that event, with sophomore Will Moon finishing at 1:40.38, which was also a personal best. The other event was the 100-yard freestyle, which Lehigh swept as well.
