Lehigh Looks to Continue Momentum at Navy

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball hits the road for a Wednesday night battle at Navy at 7 p.m. at Alumni Hall. Wednesday's game is a marquee matchup as the Mountain Hawks are first in the Patriot League at 7-1. Lehigh is 16-4 overall this season. The Midshipmen are in fourth place in the league at 6-2. Navy is 14-5 overall.Â
The Mountain Hawks bested Lafayette 73-51 on Jan. 25 to pick up their fifth straight win of the season. Senior forward Meghan O'Brien would score the game's first four points and Lehigh would hold onto the lead for the remainder of the game.Â
O'Brien led the way in the win, scoring a team-high 13 points. Fifth-year senior wing Maddie Albrecht also finished in double figures, scoring 12 points of her own. All 13 active players recorded a point in the win.Â
The Mountain Hawks shot the lights out, going 25-of-54 (46.3%) from the field and 11-of-27 from downtown (40.7%). Lehigh also dished out 21 assists, with first-year guard Keshia Vitalicio recording a game-high of four assists.Â
Head coach Addie Micir secured her 50th career win in the game against Lafayette, becoming the fastest to do so in program history.Â
If Lehigh wins on Wednesday, it would match Lehigh's longest win streak since the 2019-20 season.Â
The Midshipmen are coming off of a 59-49 loss to Army on Jan. 26. Army scored 21 points in the first quarter and Navy could never claw back from its nine-point deficit.Â
Julia Almeida and Zanai Barnett-Gay both finished with 15 points apiece. Almedia was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Jan. 27 after averaging 15 points and six rebounds last week.Â
Barnett-Gay leads the way for the Midshipmen with 19.4 points per game, which ranks second in the league.
Lehigh is 37-34 all-time against Navy. The Midshipmen defeated the Mountain Hawks 62-46 in the most recent meeting on Jan. 31, 2024.Â
