
Lehigh Competes At Columbia's Dr. Sander Scorcher In NYC

NEW YORK – The Lehigh men's track and field team competed at the two-day Dr. Sander Scorcher, hosted by Columbia, Friday and Sunday at the Armory. The Mountain Hawk men turned in eight top five event finishes plus a healthy number of PRs through the two day event.

JUMPS
Senior Skyler Mott cleared 2.01m to take fifth place in the invitational high jump. First-year Jaden Ferguson had a strong weekend in the jumps, finishing second in the open triple jump, with a distance of 13.61m. On Saturday, Ferguson led a group of six Mountain Hawks in the long jump, finishing fourth with a leap of 6.71m. Sophomore Andrew Clark finished sixth in the long jump with a PR of 6.57m. Junior Daniel Givens was also in the top 10, finishing seventh with a distance of 6.47m. Senior Jordan Layos was 10th in the invitational triple jump, with a distance of 13.70m. In the pole vault, senior Gideon Coprivnicar and sophomore Eli Johnson both cleared 4.10m to finish in the top five.

MID-DISTANCE, DISTANCE
Five Mountain Hawks competed in the 3000m on Friday, with four student-athletes taking home PRs. Sophomore Ryan Baker was the first to finish for Lehigh, taking third place for a PR of 8:37.42. First-year Charlie Butler recorded his PR of 8:40.21 to claim fifth place. Sophomore Dylan Cunningham finished 14th with a PR of 8:51.13 while junior Connor Malinger also set a new PR of 8:53.08 in his 16th place finish. First-year Will Mrozinski took 17th at a time of 8:54.06.
Sophomore Aidan LaTourette, senior Ethan Hood and first-year Peter Priestner ran in the 800m race for Lehigh on Friday. LaTourette was Lehigh's top finisher, taking 25th at 1:59.25. Priestner finished closely behind in 26th at 1:59.32 while Hood took 36th with a time of 2:01.98.
On Saturday, first-year Ian Zalewski and junior Dan Malatesta ran the mile. Malatesta finished first for the Mountain Hawks in 23rd place at 4:18.84 while Zalewski finished 25th with a time of 4:19.07.
Seniors Kevin Harvey and Aidan Lynch ran the 5000m race on Saturday. Harvey finished the event in 14:29.04 to claim seventh place while Lynch took 15th at 15:00.84.
SPRINTS/HURDLES
Sophomore Nathan Oliphant and senior Jonathan Bennett ran in Friday's 60m hurdle invitational prelims. Oliphant took 18th with a time of 8.39 while Bennett was 23rd in 8.46.
In the 60m hurdle open, first-year Neves Hoose set a new PR of 9.58 to take 17th.
In the 60m sprint, first-year Tyler VerShure placed 24th with a time of 7.26 while sophomore Aidan DiBuono finished in 39th at 7.52.
Sophomore Logan Haverkamp ran the 400m open race and finished sixth with a PR of 51.23.
Senior Patrez Thomas led the way for three Mountain Hawks in the open 200m race, finishing ninth, clocking in at 22.72.Â

THROWS
Senior Liam Lovering was the lone Lehigh thrower in action. Lovering finished fifth in the weight throw with an effort of 16.19m and closed out the weekend for Lehigh with an 11th place finish in the shot put, with a throw of 16.06m.

The Mountain Hawks will next battle Lafayette College in The Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute. The dual meet will take place on Saturday, February 1 at Rauch Fieldhouse.
