
Lehigh To Host Lafayette In Rivalry Indoor Track Meet Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Rivalry takes to the indoor track on Saturday as the Lehigh track and field teams will host Lafayette in the Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute at Rauch Fieldhouse. Action begins with field events starting at 2 p.m. as the Mountain Hawk men and women's teams look to sweep the Leopards for the 11th consecutive indoor meet. Lehigh's women have won the last 15 indoor dual meets in the Rivalry series.

Field events begin at 2 p.m. with the men's pole vault and will conclude with the men's triple jump. The men's mile gets the track events started at 3:30 p.m. with the women's 4x800m relay wrapping up the dual meet at approximately 5:50 p.m.

Lehigh's teams will be competing for the fourth consecutive weekend with Saturday's dual meet marking one month until the start of the Patriot League Championships at Navy.

Last weekend, Lehigh competed at the two-day Dr. Sander Scorcher at the Armory in New York. Junior Abby Klebe broke one of her own school records for the second consecutive week, running a 2:06.37 in the 800 meters. A week earlier at the Quaker Invitational, Klebe broke her own school record in the 1000 meters at 2:49.22.

Klebe was named Patriot League Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, marking the second straight week a Lehigh women's athlete won a Patriot League weekly award. Sophomore Gaea DePass was honored as Field Athlete of the Week after winning the high jump at the Jan. 18 Moravian Indoor Meet.

On the men's side, senior Kevin Harvey and sophomore Ryan Baker had strong showings on the track at the Dr. Sander Scorcher. Harvey ran a 14.29.04 in the 5000 meters, while Baker was one of four Mountain Hawks to PR in the 3000 meters, finishing third with a time of 8:37.42.

Senior Skyler Mott has cleared 2.00 meters in the high jump twice so far in January, finishing second at the Penn Select on Jan. 11, clearing a season-best 2.05m. First-year Jaden Ferguson had a good weekend at the Armory, finishing second in the open triple jump, with a distance of 13.61m.and fourth in the long jump, with a leap of 6.71m.

Senior Thrower Liam Lovering won the shot put and finished second in the weight throw at the Wesley Brown Invitational at Navy Jan. 17-18.

Last year's Rivalry sweep saw the women prevail 108-77 and the men win 106-75 at Rauch Fieldhouse.

The women won 12 out of 17 events, with Jennifer Whipple taking the weight throw and Avery Dowkus claiming the shot put. Laura Reigle posted a victory in the pole vault, while Izabel Fronc was victorious in the high jump.

Lehigh's women swept the distance/mid-distance events with Klebe and Svea Wickelgren returning event winners from last year. In the sprints and hurdles, Grace Kennedy took both the 200m and 400m, while Shelby Dejana won the 60m hurdles.
