BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball picked up its second straight league win, defeating Boston University 80-54 Wednesday night at Stabler Arena. With the win, the Mountain Hawks improved to 13-4 (4-1 PL) and the Terriers dropped to 7-9 (1-4 PL).Â
"We're sharing it and shooting it," said head coach Addie Micir. "That's the motto, but what I love is that everybody is aggressive and ready. We always say when the offense looks for you, shoot it because that means your buddies earned you a shot, and that's what we did."Â
The Terriers used a 16-0 second-quarter run to propel them to a 33-30 lead at halftime, but Lehigh completely dominated the second half. Lehigh scored the first five points of the second quarter to take a 38-35 lead and the Mountain Hawks would hold onto the lead for the remainder of the game.Â
Lehigh outscored the Terriers 50-21 in the second half to pick up a 26-point victory.Â
"Let's talk about the second quarter, we weren't really making a ton of shots," Micir said. "Keshia Vitalicio came in and hit two really big three-pointers and it gave us some momentum going into the second half. What we say to the team is 'you're too good shooters to not make them.'"Â
Lehigh exploded for a 31-point third quarter after shooting 11-of-18 (61.1%) from the field and 4-of-5 (80%) from long range.
Three Mountain Hawks finished in double figures. Senior guard Ella Stemmer paced the way with a team-high 14 points, junior forward Lily Fandre added 11 points and Whitney Lind chipped in 11 points for her second straight double-figure game.Â
First-year forward Belle Bramer was a force on both ends of the floor. Bramer started the second half and helped propel the Mountain Hawks to a comeback victory. She finished the night with eight points, two rebounds and a block. Vitalicio and fifth-year wing Maddie Albrecht both finished with nine points apiece.Â
The Mountain Hawks shot 29-of-65 (44.6%) from the field and 14-of-30 (46.7%) from beyond the arc. The Terriers shot 22-of-50 (44%) and 3-of-11 (27.3%) from deep. Lehigh had 19 assists with sophomore guard Gracyn Lovette dishing out a game-high of five assists. Senior guard Colleen McQuillen added four assists.Â
"We have got to continue to practice hard and do us," Micir said. "Each and every time we prepare, it's preparing us for what we're going to do for other teams and that has to be the mindset. This league is really, really good. It's a well-scouted league and we have to know that teams are going to throw different things at us, so we have to continue to get it done at practice, so we can execute games."
Allison Schwertner finished with a team-high of 14 points to lead the way for the Terriers.Â
Next up, Lehigh will travel to Baltimore to take on Loyola on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Reitz Arena. Saturday's game will be aired on ESPN+.Â
