Lehigh Faces Loyola in Second Meeting of the Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball hits the road for a Saturday evening showdown in Baltimore against Loyola at 5 p.m. Saturday's game will air on ESPN+. The Mountain Hawks are 13-4 (4-1 PL)  and the Greyhounds are 7-9 (1-4 PL). 

Lehigh downed Boston University 80-54 on Jan. 15 in its most recent game. Down 33-30 at halftime, the Mountain Hawks outscored the Terriers 50-21 in the second half to pick up their second straight league win. 

Senior guard Ella Stemmer finished with a team-high 14 points. Stemmer hit three three-pointers in the win over Boston University. She is second in the league in three-point percentage (39.6%) and second in three-point field goals made per game (2.6). The Ann Arbor, Mich., native is averaging 11.6 points per game, the second most on the team. 

Junior forward Lily Fandre added 12 points and sophomore forward Whitney Lind chipped in 11 points to finish in double figures for the second straight game. 

Lehigh shot 29-of-65 (44.6%) from the field and 14-of-30 from beyond the arc (46.7%). The Terriers shot 22-of-50 (44%) from the field and 3-of-11 from downtown (27.3%). 

The Greyhounds are coming off of a 77-38 win over American on Jan. 13. Loyola shot 32-of-67 (47.8%) from the field.  Laura Salmeron paced the way with a game-high 19 points. 

Loyola is led by Kimmie Hicks, who is averaging 14.6 points per game. Salmeron is second on the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game. 

Saturday's game will mark the second meeting of the season between Lehigh and Loyola. The Mountain Hawks will be looking for the season sweep after defeating the Greyhounds 74-66 on Jan. 5. Lehigh led by as many as 22 points and the Greyhounds pulled within four, but Lehigh closed the game on an 8-4 run to hold onto the win. 

Stemmer finished with a  game-high 19 points in the win. Fifth-year wing Maddie Albrecht added 18 points of her own. 

Lehigh leads the all-time series 19-10. The Mountain Hawks are looking for their first season sweep against Loyola since the 2022-23 season.

Next up, Lehigh will host American on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Wednesday's game will be aired on ESPN+.
