
Mountain Hawks Earn 2-1 Win Over Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Lehigh women's soccer team earned its first win of the season, defeating Seton Hall 2-1 on Thursday night.

In the first half, the Pirates struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute off a goal from Nina Davis.

The Mountain Hawks came out in the second half with an early goal in the 48th minute. Senior Zoe Schutter finished an assist from first-year Esther Brossard to even the score at 1-1.

Lehigh maintained momentum as sophomore Aminah Baruwa gave the Mountain Hawks the 2-1 advantage in the 52nd minute.

In the 75th minute, Seton Hall's Brina Micheels picked up a red card, limiting the Pirates to 10 players on field.

Junior goalkeeper Maggie Ousoujoglou made eight saves while Seton Hall's Anna Prawer made one save in the opening half before Avery Strohecker came in for the second half and posted three saves.

The Pirates outshot Lehigh 15-10 and out-cornered the Mountain Hawks 9-3. First-year Esther Brossard led Lehigh with three shots while fellow first-year Summer Hill tallied two.

The victory was Lehigh's first over the Pirates since Lehigh's first-ever varsity game in 1991.

Lehigh (1-1) remains on the road next week for a matchup with Rutgers at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
