Mountain Hawks Outpaced 15-4 By No. 20 Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - No. 20 Navy's 11 goal first half proved to be too much as Lehigh fell 15-4 to the Mids Wednesday evening in Annapolis.
Navy opened the game with a six goal first quarter, using a 7-0 advantage in draw controls to take a 6-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
The Mids carried momentum into the second quarter, netting three goals to take a 9-0 lead with 9:31 remaining in the half. At 5:49, graduate student Gabby Schneider got the Mountain Hawks on the board with her 30th goal of the season, decreasing Navy's lead to 9-1.
Navy responded with two goals to close out the opening half, holding an 11-1 lead at intermission.
The third quarter featured three goals from the Mids as they extended their lead 14-1 heading into the final quarter.
Graduate student Emma Eberhardt scored a quick goal off an assist from Cassie Marte, as the score stood 14-2 with 12:23 left in the contest.
Lehigh maintained momentum as sophomore Emmie Ridgeway found the back of the net for her second goal of the season. Junior Angelina Pino followed up with the next goal of the contest, but the deficit was too large as Navy secured a 15-4 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Hayley Hunt made 15 saves while contributing team highs in both caused turnovers (2) and ground balls (4).
Navy was led by Lola Leone with five goals while three Mids tallied two goals apiece. The Mids held a dominant 18-2 advantage in draw controls Marte and first-year Brynn Freeman each earning one apiece.
The Mountain Hawks (7-6, 3-4 PL) continue on the road with a matchup with Colgate at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
