BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Lehigh women's tennis dominated Binghamton, picking up a 7-0 win Sunday afternoon. With the win, Lehigh improved to 6-2 on the season, and matched its win total from last season as the Mountain Hawks finished 6-11 in the 2022-23 season. Â
This marks the second straight season that Lehigh swept the Bearcats and the first time this season that the Mountain Hawks recorded a sweep. After suffering a 4-3 loss yesterday to Johns Hopkins, Lehigh didn't let it impact Sunday's match at all, winning all three doubles matches to record the doubles point.
Allyce Gaborik and Maggie Forkner picked up a 6-1 victory over Caterina Casadei and Maria Pereira. Anushka Dania and Megha Dania bested Abby Ackroyd and Loren Cuomo 6-3, and Audrey Harrington and Hannah Letzer sealed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win over Britney Korir and Nitya Vyas.Â
Megha Dania picked up the first singles point for Lehigh at the No. 3 singles spot, winning both sets 6-0. Anushka Dania and Forkner stayed undefeated on the weekend, winning their singles matches for the second straight match. Anushka bested Vyas 6-0, 6-2, and Forkner defeated Casadei 6-3 in both sets. Gaborik sealed the win for the Mountain Hawks at the No. 2 spot, besting Ackroyd 6-3, 6-2.Â
Hannah Letzer defeated Samantha Jaros 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot, and Giselle Vlassis picked up her second win of the season at the No. 6 spot, pulling off a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Britney Korir.Â
