
Mountain Hawks Clinch Fourth Straight Win after 5-2 Victory over Hofstra

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's tennis closed out the weekend with a fourth straight win after defeating Hofstra 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center.Â
The Mountain Hawks improved to 5-1, and Hofstra dropped to 3-2.Â
Lehigh picked up the doubles point after winning two doubles matches. Anushka and Megha Dania won the first doubles match of the day in 24 minutes after beating Sabria Mohamed and Mary Madigan in six straight sets.
The duo of Hamsa Javagal and Audrey Harrington improved to 5-0 on the season in doubles after besting Abigail Higgins and Dianela Rodriguez 6-2.Â
Maggie Forkner and Allyce Gaborik found themselves down 5-0, and they answered right back by winning the next five games, but Hofstra's Lea Forste-Dinell and Deniz Soyer won the next two games to seal the 7-5 victory.
Megha Dania picked up the first singles victory for Lehigh at the No.4 spot, besting Abigail Higgins 6-0, 6-1.Â
Forkner controlled the first set, winning six straight games. The first-year was down 3-1 in the next set, but she continued to battle and pulled off the 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot.Â
Anushka Dania secured the victory for Lehigh at the No.5 spot as she defeated Kaitlyn Ferguson 6-1, 6-2.Â
While the win was already sealed, Hannah Letzer won her match at the No.6 spot after beating Sabria Mohamed 7-5, 6-2. Letzer fought back after being down two games in the first set.Â
Javagal lost 6-1, 6-3 to Forste-Dinell and Gaborik lost 7-5, 6-1 to Soyer.
The Mountain Hawks will close out their six-match home stand on Saturday against Johns Hopkins at 4 p.m.Â
