BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The wait is over, Lehigh women's basketball kicks off the 2024-25 season against LIU  at Stabler Arena on Monday at 6 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are looking to win their seventh straight season opener and to pick their second straight win over the Sharks.

Monday's game will mark the first meeting between the schools since 2018 when Lehigh defeated LIU 72-38. Lehigh leads the all-time series 6-4.

This year's team brings a wealth of experience as Lehigh returns seven of its top seven scorers from a season ago. Senior guard Ella Stemmer led the way for the Mountain Hawks last season, averaging a team-high 13.6 points per game and a career-high 3.2 rebounds per game.

Stemmer is a deep threat from beyond the arc as she made a team-high 73 three-pointers last season. Stemmer continues to climb in the record books as has the eighth-most three-pointers in program history (144). The Ann Arbor, Mich., native needs just three more three-pointers to tie Cat Nicholson '03 for the seventh-most three-pointers (147).

Lily Fandre was second in scoring last season as she averaged a career-high 11.8 points per game and a career-high 5.6 rebounds per game. Fandre tallied three double-doubles on the season last season and finished in double figures 17 times.

Maddie Albrecht, Meghan O'Brien, Colleen McQuillen, Remi Sisselman and Whitney Lind were third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh in scoring respectively last season. Lehigh averaged a Patriot League leading 68.8 points per game and the Sharks averaged 58.2 points per game.

Last season, Lehigh had a 17-13 overall record and a 9-9 Patriot League record. Lehigh had a strong start to its non-league schedule last year, finishing 8-3 after winning the first five games of the 2023-24 season.

LIU finished 8-22 overall last season and was led by former Shark Ashley Austin, who averaged 15. 3 points per game. Amaya Dowdy, who was fourth in scoring last season for the Sharks with 7.9 points per game, returns as the top leading scorer.

Monday's game will be aired on ESPN+. Tickets can be purchased here or by calling 610-7LU-GAME.
