Lehigh Opens Patriot League Play at Navy on Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer team opens league play on Friday at Navy in Annapolis.

The Mountain Hawks (3-1-3) blew past St. John's on Sunday 4-2, with graduate student Ryelle Shuey, senior Ava Schaller and junior Hope Flanegin scoring goals. Junior Faith Dobosiewicz had three assists in the game.

Shuey leads Lehigh with three goals and Dobosiewicz leads in points with seven (2 goals, 3 assists). First year Aminah Baruwa tallies two goals, including the game-winner over Penn on Sept. 3.

Navy is 4-1-3, drawing common opponent St. John's 0-0 on Aug. 20. The Mids are led by Alexa Riddle (3 goals, 2 assists) and Marlee Heaven (3 goals).

The Mids lead the series 24-6-4, with Lehigh picking up two wins in 2022. The Mountain Hawks won 2-0 in the regular season and 4-0 in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal. Shuey and junior Corinne Lyght each scored two goals against Navy last season.

Lehigh was selected to finish fourth in the league, receiving 119 points and one first-place vote, following a fourth place finish last season. The Mountain Hawks had a 5-2-2 record in Patriot League play.
