Lehigh Battles Cornell to 2-2 Draw

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Lehigh women's soccer team scored a late goal to tie Cornell 2-2 on Sunday evening in Ithaca.

"Tonight's game was another hard fought battle and we demonstrated perseverance and character," said head coach Lauren Calabrese. "There are dimensions of our game and habits of play we are still developing and tonight is another opportunity we can learn from to inform our process."

The teams battled to remain tied 0-0 at halftime, as junior Corinne Lyght led with three shots.

At 51:24, junior Faith Dobosiewicz netted the first goal of the contest off an assist from fellow junior Zoe Schutter. Dobosiewicz leads the Mountain Hawks with two goals on the young season.

The next goal of the contest didn't come until 70:48 when Cornell's Maddie Leroy found the back of the net. Cornell gained momentum and scored another goal less than four minutes later to give the Big Red a 2-1 lead with just over 15 minutes left.

In the 85th minute, first-year Aminah Baruwa stepped up for the Mountain Hawks, scoring her first-career goal and guiding Lehigh to the 2-2 draw.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Ousoujoglou played all 90 minutes in net, making four saves. Her Cornell counterpart, Natalie Medugno had one save.

The Mountain Hawks continue their three-game road trip on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Temple. Lehigh returns to Ulrich Sports Complex on Sunday to host Penn.
