Javagal, James Earn Three-Set Wins In League Finale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In its final Patriot League match of the season, Lehigh fell 5-2 to visiting Army West Point Saturday afternoon on the Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts. Sophomore Hamsa Javagal and senior Junmoke James picked up singles wins for the Mountain Hawks in three-set matches. Lehigh falls to 5-10 overall and 2-5 in the Patriot League.

Army swept the doubles points, clinching the first point of the match with 6-2 wins at the top two flights. The tightest match was at No. 3 where James and sophomore Allyce Gaborik fell 6-4 to McKinnley Smith and Anna Louriero.

The Black Knights extended their lead to 3-0 with wins at No. 3 and No. 6 singles before Javagal put the Mountain Hawks on the board with a three-set win over Cooper Jackson at the top flight. Army clinched the match at No. 2 as Elizabeth Gilbert won in straight sets over junior Megha Dania. James won in three sets over Emma Sy for Lehigh's second win. Anushka Dania pushed Yian Duong to a third set at No. 5 before falling.

The Mountain Hawks will close out the regular season on Sunday when they host Binghamton at noon on the Ulrich Varsity Courts.
