BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team is set to host two matches to close out the regular season. The Mountain Hawks will welcome Army West Point to the Ulrich Varsity Courts Saturday and then will host Binghamton on Sunday. Action both days will start at noon. Lehigh will welcome back women's tennis alumni Saturday, while Sunday the Mountain Hawks will recognize senior Junmoke James in her final home match.
Lehigh is looking to snap a two-match slide. The Mountain Hawks fell to league-leading Boston University last Sunday in Annapolis, Md., which dropped Lehigh to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in the league. Sophomore Hamsa Javagal won her first set at No. 1 singles but ultimately fell in her match.
Javagal, junior Anushka Dania and sophomore Allyce Gaborik all own seven singles wins on the season, putting them one behind junior Megha Dania for the team lead.
In doubles play, Javagal and first-year Bella Peters lead the way with an 8-5 record. Megha and Anushka Dania are 6-7 at the top flight.
Army, the defending Patriot League champion, comes into Saturday's match at 19-8 overall and 4-2 in the league. The Black Knights defeated Bucknell 4-0 last Saturday and will close out the regular season against Lehigh.
Binghamton is 1-21 and has dropped four straight since defeating Wagner for its lone win back on March 17.
Following this weekend's matches Lehigh will head to West Point, N.Y. for the Patriot League Tournament, April 27-30.
