Lehigh Captures 17-13 win vs. Bucknell, while Schneider breaks Assist Record

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior attacker Gabby Schneider scored seven points to help lift the Lehigh women's lacrosse team past Bucknell, 17-13, at Graham Field Saturday afternoon.
The Mountain Hawks are 7-4 (2-3 PL), and the Bison are now 5-6 (1-3 PL).
Schneider's seven points came off three goals and four assists. Her first assist of the day made Schneider Lehigh's all-time assist leader, passing Allison LaBeau '17, who had 105.
While Schneider led the way in points, Saturday's game was a total team effort as seven different Mountain Hawks recorded a goal. Katia Carnevale and Olivia Memeger both had four goals, Schneider had three goals and Cassie Marte, Emma Fiore and Casey O'Connor all notched a goal of their own.
Lehigh scored the first three goals of the game. Bucknell got on the board with 4:20 left in the first quarter, and the Mountain Hawks responded with a 2-0 run to take a 5-1 lead with 4:05 left in the first quarter.
The Mountain Hawks outscored Bucknell 4-1 in the second quarter to take a 9-4 lead at the half.
In the fourth quarter, the Bison cut Lehigh's lead to three with 5:40 left in the game, but the Mountain Hawks responded with a 3-0 run.
Schneider scored her third goal of the day with 1:43 left in the game to put Lehigh up 17-11, which was tied for the largest lead of the game. The Bison scored the last two goals of the game, but Lehigh's lead would be enough to hold onto the win.
Junior goalkeeper Hayley Hunt tallied eight saves, while Bukcnell's Symone Ryans finished with seven saves.
Lehigh held a 22-12 advantage in the draw controls on Saturday. Marte had a game-high of 12 draw controls.
The Mountain Hawks forced six caused turnovers. Claire Keller and Emma Fiore both caused two turnovers.
Emily Baird led the way for Bucknell with four goals.
The Mountain Hawks return home to the Ulrich Sports Complex on Tuesday and will close out the non-conference schedule against Penn at 5 p.m.
