
Lehigh Topped by Mount St. Mary's in Second Match of the Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's tennis team tried to fight its way back against Mount St. Mary's but were unable to get past the Mountaineers, falling 4-3 on Sunday morning inside the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center.Â
The Mountain Hawks were unable to get the doubles point and found themselves trailing 1-0 going into singles play. During doubles, senior Junmoke James and sophomore Allyce Gaborik picked up their second doubles win of the weekend, defeating the Mount's Riya McCarthy and Ana Alvarez-Storni 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.Â
The Mountaineers picked up the first three wins of singles play to ultimately clinch their first win of the season. Lehigh continued to battle throughout the remainder of the match, picking up three consecutive singles wins to end the match.Â
Sophomore Hamsa Javagal secured Lehigh's first singles win of the day, defeating the Mount's Victoria Papadopoulou 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 1 spot.Â
Juniors Anushka Dania and Megha Dania wrapped up the weekend with two more singles wins of their own. Anushka defeated Adriana Barney 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot while Megha picked up a win at the No. 3 spot against Shirley Liang, winning 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 [7-5].Â
The Mountain Hawks will remain in Bethlehem to prepare for another two-match weekend with Drexel coming to town on Saturday, Feb. 11 to take on Lehigh at 2 p.m. The Mountain Hawks will then host Howard on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.Â
