Mountain Hawks Close Out Final Meet of the Regular Season with Strong Performances

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Mountain Hawks shined at their final meet of the regular season, proving they are more than ready for the upcoming Patriot League Championship on Feb. 25-26. The Lehigh women's track and field team concluded the regular season at Bucknell Tune Up on Friday night, tallying five first-place finishes, four all-time additions and another ECAC qualifier.
Lehigh dominated in the field events, winning three events on Friday evening. Senior Calista Marzolino was the first Mountain Hawk to claim a first-place finish, winning the high jump with a mark of 1.60m. Junior Kerry Perna (1.60m) followed suit finishing second overall.
First-year Laura Reigle captured her fourth win of the season in the pole vault, finishing first with a mark of 3.81m. Sophomore Randi Conroy followed close behind, finishing third overall with a mark of 3.66m.
Sophomore Casey Talamini-Kelemen picked up Lehigh's third win in the field, winning the triple jump with a mark of 11.51m. First-year Grace Nation had an impressive performance in the triple jump, finishing second with a mark of 11.33m to become eighth all-time in Lehigh history. Junior Nina Cialone (11.29m) followed suit, finishing third overall.
Lillian Mauger had another solid performance for the Mountain Hawks in the long jump. The sophomore finished third overall and is now fourth all-time with her new personal best of 5.64m. Fellow sophomore Keisha Modi also had a solid performance in the long jump, finishing fourth overall with a mark of 5.44m.
While Lehigh shined in the field events, the Mountain Hawks continued to improve on the track, adding two more first-place finishes.
Senior Ashley Griesmeyer continued to dominate in the 60m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 8.86. Graduate student Chae Kim followed close behind, finishing second with a time of 8.91 to become seventh all-time.
Following Griesmeyer's stellar performance in the 60m hurdles, sophomore Grace Kolbe had a solid performance in the mile. Kolbe finished second overall with a new personal best of 5:20.69.
First-year Abigail Klebe secured her second consecutive collegiate win on Friday in Lewisburg, this time in the 500m. Klebe finished first with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:15.90 to become fifth all-time.
Lehigh shined in the 800m, with five Mountain Hawks placing in the top ten. Leading the way for Lehigh was first-year Lucy Afanasewicz, who finished third overall with a time of 2:18.50. First-year Amber Barrios (2:19.60) finished fourth while sophomore Lauryn Heskin (2:19.31) and senior Annalise Davis (2:20.46) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Sophomore Riley Morrell was the final Mountain Hawk to claim a spot in the top ten, finishing tenth overall with a time of 2:21.79.
The Mountain Hawks wrapped up Friday with four top five finishes in the final two races. In the 200m, first-year Gianna Mangili was a top finisher for Lehigh, finishing second with a time of 25.81. Sophomore Stephanie Webb followed suit, finishing fourth with a time of 26.27.
Graduate student Martina Sell and first-year Elisa Brear picked up Lehigh's final top ten finishes of the day in the 3000m. Sell finished second with a time of 10:47.50 while Brear finished fifth with a time of 10:59.37.
Lehigh will travel to Annapolis, Md. for the Patriot League Championship, which will be hosted by Navy this year. The Mountain Hawks will kick off competition on Saturday, Feb. 25 and will wrap up the championship on Sunday, Feb. 26.
