NFHCA Names 15 Mountain Hawks to National Academic Squad

GENEVA, N.Y. – Following a highly-successful fall semester on and off the field, the Lehigh field hockey team placed 15 Mountain Hawks on the NFHCA National Academic Squad, as announced on Thursday.

Among the 15, there are three seniors, Maddie Kahn, Sophie Leighton and Anna Piecuch, who are four-year NFHCA honorees. Those recognized posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year, and were nominated by the NFHCA member coach. These Lehigh student-athletes are 15 of 965 student-athletes from 77 Division I institutions have been named to the 2022 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.

Lehigh had yet another historic season that saw many accolades. The Mountain Hawks claimed their first Patriot League Championship since 1994 and their second title in program history. The squad finished the season with an overall record of 13-8, which ties the 1984 team for the third-most wins in school history and earned its first NCAA Tournament berth in program history.
