BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team fell 2-0 to Wagner in their home opener Friday night at Ulrich Field.

Wagner's Natalie McGivern scored both goals for the Seahawks.

The first goal of the contest came at 6:34 in the third quarter. McGivern made a move around junior goalkeeper Kate Burgess and put the ball in the back of the net to give Wagner a 1-0 lead.

The Seahawks struck again with 2:25 on the clock in the third. Wagner's Floortje Leunisse got a breakaway in the middle of the pitch, passing the ball to McGivern in the circle who one-timed it in for the 2-0 lead.

Junior Kate Burgess made five saves, while her Wagner counterpart Saar van Dalen also recorded five.

Senior Kiki Mes, junior Ella Stephenson and sophomore Carly Smith led the Mountain Hawks with two shots apiece.

Lehigh (1-1) heads to Fairfield on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match-up.
