
Lehigh Blanks La Salle 4-0 In Season-Opener

PHILADELPHIA - The Lehigh field hockey team had a dominant start to its 2025 campaign, defeating La Salle 4-0 on Friday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Senior Kiki Mes got scoring started early, giving Lehigh a 1-0 lead off a corner with 5:41 on the clock.

Junior Ella Stephenson struck next, tipping in a goal off a shot from Mes to give Lehigh a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

With just under two minutes into the third quarter, Lehigh was awarded a penalty stroke opportunity. Stephenson put it away for her second goal of the contest, extending Lehigh's lead to 3-0.

In the final five minutes of the match, Lehigh earned another penalty stroke. This time, senior Lela Boermeester stepped up for the opportunity. Boermeester put the ball into the back of the net, securing Lehigh's 4-0 opening win.

The Mountain Hawks outshot La Salle 27-10 and 22-1 in shots on goal. Lehigh also out-cornered the Explorers 8-5.
Junior goalkeeper Kate Burgess made one save, while La Salle's Abby Boggs recorded 18.

Lehigh (1-0) returns to action on Sept. 5 as the Mountain Hawks host Wagner at 6 p.m. at Ulrich Field.
