Mountain Hawks Fall to Navy in First Match of the Weekend

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Mountain Hawks fell to Navy in their first match of the weekend on Saturday. Navy defeated Lehigh 7-0 to hand the women's tennis team their first league loss of the season. 

Lehigh was unable to secure a win during doubles play and entered singles play down 1-0. The Mountain Hawks tried to fight their way back during singles but were unable to pull off the win. 

First-year Hamsa Javagal battled Navy's Jillian Taggart at the No. 1 spot. Javagal lost 6-3 in the first set before going on to win 6-4 in the second. The first-year was unable to hold on and fell to Taggart in the third set. 

Lehigh's Junmoke James fought hard to secure a win in the second flight but was unable to come out on top. James, who was named Patriot League Women's Player of the Week earlier this week, was defeated by Emily Tannebaum 6-2, 6-1.

The Mountain Hawks will return to Bethlehem for their second match of the weekend. Lehigh will look to grab its ninth straight victory Sunday against Colgate. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
