Javagal Wins Patriot League Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's tennis first-year Hamsa Javagal was named the Patriot League Women's Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office on Tuesday morning.
Javagal has played a crucial role in the Mountain Hawks' first five matches of the season. The first-year registered singles wins in every match this season, leaving her 5-0 in singles play.
Competing at the No. 1 singles' spot for the first time in her Lehigh career, Javagal defeated both opponents from Siena and Saint Francis in straight sets. She defeated Siena's Meagan Brown on Saturday 6-4, 7-5 before picking up her fifth win of the season against Saint Francis' Bente Vandeputte, 6-4, 6-3.
On the doubles side, Javagal and junior Junmoke James have been competing at the No. 1 spot. The duo picked up their second win of the season against Saint Francis on Sunday, defeating Vandeputte and Dominique Yeo 6-2.
The first-year will look to lead her team to a third straight win on Sunday as the Mountain Hawks take on St. John's at 11 a.m. at Lewis Tennis Center.
