Lehigh Sweeps Saint Francis 7-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Mountain Hawks bounced back from their loss to Siena in dominant fashion, sweeping Saint Francis on Sunday at Lewis Tennis Center. Lehigh won all nine matches to get the 7-0 win.
The Mountain Hawks swept doubles, giving them an early 1-0 lead over the Red Flash. Juniors Matt Kleiman and Michael Bukhalo got the first win in doubles at the No. 3 spot, defeating Saint Francis' Christian Banti and Jordi Garcia 6-3. At the No. 1 spot, senior Zack Elliott and junior Jeremy Learner secured the doubles point, winning 6-4. First-year Marc Blekhman and sophomore Jordan Paul went on to defeat Sebastian Pinos and Andrew Teixeira 7-5 in the final doubles match.
Going into singles with a 1-0 lead, Lehigh continued to dominate the Red Flash. The Mountain Hawks won all six matches in singles play, giving them the 7-0 win on Sunday. At the No. 5 spot, senior Gary Fishkin picked up his fifth win of the season, defeating Daniel Vinces from Saint Francis 8-3. Learner also picked up his fifth win of the season on Sunday, defeating Fabio Varella at the No. 2 spot. Learner and Fishkin currently lead the team in singles wins with five each.
At the No. 1 spot, Elliott picked up his fourth win of the season, defeating Sebastian Pinos 6-4, 6-2. Blekhman picked up his second win at the No. 3 spot, defeating Andrew Teixeira 6-2 in both sets.
Kleiman stayed undefeated in singles over the weekend. Kleiman picked up wins at the No. 4 spot against Siena on Saturday and Saint Francis on Sunday. He is now 4-2 in singles this year. Paul picked up his third singles win of the season, defeating Christian Banti 8-2 at the No. 6 spot.
The Mountain Hawks will spend the next two weeks preparing for their spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C. Lehigh will take on University of Texas-Dallas in its next match on March 14.
