
Mountain Hawks Defeat Newberry 6-1 In First Spring Break Match

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Lehigh men's tennis team grabbed its first win of spring break on Monday. The Mountain Hawks dominated Newberry, defeating them 6-1 in Hilton Head, S.C.
Lehigh continued to assert its dominance early in the match, sweeping the doubles point to get the early 1-0 lead. Senior Gary Fishkin and first-year Marc Blekhman grabbed a 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot. At the No. 2 spot, juniors Michael Bukhalo and Matt Kleiman grabbed their third win of the season, defeating Newberry's Mateo Bivol and Leo Zancheta 6-4. Junior Steven Nazaroff and first-year Luke Donovan picked up Lehigh's third doubles win of the day, winning 6-1.
Moving into singles with a 1-0 lead, Lehigh continued to assert itself, winning five of the six singles matches. At the No. 3 spot, Fishkin picked up his sixth win of the season, defeating Stratas Anastopoulo from Newberry 6-3, 6-4. Bukhalo picked up his first singles win of the season at the No. 6 spot, defeating Newberry's Leo Zancheta 6-2, 6-2.
Juniors Matt Kleiman and Jordan Paul both earned their fourth wins of the season in singles play. At the No. 4 spot, Kleiman defeated Lawrence Friedland 6-1, 6-1. Paul defeated Enzo Blagignat 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot. First-year Marc Blekhman picked up a win at the No. 2 spot, defeating Marcel Schomburg 6-3, 6-4.
The Mountain Hawks will play two more matches in Hilton Head before heading back to Bethlehem. Lehigh will take on George Mason at 8:30 a.m. and South Carolina State at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Doubles
