Mountain Hawks Top Siena 4-3, Get Second Win of the Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The women's tennis team showed its toughness at Lewis Tennis Center on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks defeated Siena 4-3 to earn their second win of the season.Â
Lehigh lost the doubles point, leaving the team down early in the match. The Mountain Hawks lost in the first flight and were forced to forfeit the third flight. Sophomores Anushka Dania and Megha Dania picked up a win in doubles. At the No. 2 spot, the duo defeated Siena's Shelby Madeiros and Anastasia Koniaev 7-6.Â
Going into singles play down by two, the Mountain Hawks showed their toughness and won four of five singles matches. Leading the way for Lehigh was first-year Hamsa Javagal who got her first career win at the No. 1 spot. Javagal defeated Nanea Perkins from Siena 7-5, 6-1 to pick up her fourth win of the season and remain undefeated.Â
Junior Junmoke James earned her first win of the season in singles play on Saturday. James defeated Siena's Meagan Brown at the No. 2 spot 6-4, 7-5. Sophomores Anushka and Megha Dania continued the momentum for Lehigh, picking up wins of their own in singles play. At the No. 3 spot, Megha defeated Siena's Shelby Madeiros 6-2, 6-1. Anushka earned her second win of the season at the No. 4 spot, defeating Anastasia Koniaev 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.Â
Lehigh will look to continue the momentum into tomorrow as they take on Saint Francis. The Mountain Hawks will host the Red Flash at the Lewis Tennis Center at 2 p.m. on Sunday.Â
