Mountain Hawks Defeat Saint Francis 4-3, Go 2-0 In The Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's tennis team went 2-0 for the weekend, defeating Saint Francis 4-3 at Lewis Tennis Center on Sunday. Lehigh improved to 3-2 on the season with its back-to-back wins at home this weekend.Â
The Mountain Hawks were forced to default the third flight of doubles but did not let that stop them from securing the doubles point. First-year Hamsa Javagal and junior Junmoke James won their second doubles match of the year at the No. 1 spot, winning 6-2.Â
Sophomores Megha and Anushka Dania went on to win at the No. 2 spot to secure the doubles point for Lehigh. The duo picked up their fourth doubles win of the season in their 6-3 victory over Saint Francis' Anoek Pruijmbroom and Marie Discini.Â
Going into singles play with a 1-0 lead, Lehigh refused to let the match get away from them. Javagal picked up the win at the No. 1 spot, defeating Bente Vandeputte 6-4, 6-3. Both Megha and Anushka Dania went into three sets in their respective singles matches, but the duo came out on top, securing the victory for Lehigh.Â
The Mountain Hawks will look to continue the momentum into next weekend when they host St. John's on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Lewis Tennis Center.Â
