Non-league slate includes opponents from ACC, Big Ten and Big East
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Despite the shortest layoff between seasons in program history, the Lehigh men's soccer team is ready to get back to work as the Ingrassia Family Men's Head Soccer Coach Dean Koski and his coaching staff has announced the schedule for the 2021 season.
The Mountain Hawks struggled to defend their Patriot League title in 2019, as the spring 2021 campaign proved to be full of injuries and inconsistencies in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program returns to campus this fall refreshed and ready to get back to the postseason after missing the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since 2016.
After missing out on participating in non-league play this past spring, the Mountain Hawks open the season on the road at Manhattan on Aug. 27 in a rematch of the 2019 season where Lehigh came out on top, 1-0.
Lehigh's home opener at the Ulrich Sports Complex is set to take place on Aug. 29 against Vermont for just the second time and first matchup since 1997.
Back-to-back road tilts against an ACC and Big Ten opponent, respectively highlights the competitive portion of the schedule, taking on reigning national semifinalist Pitt on Sept. 3 in a 2019 NCAA First Round rematch, followed by Rutgers on Sept. 10.
The final tune-up before the start of Patriot League play occurs on Sept. 14 at Fairleigh Dickinson, ending a three-game road trip.
Always set to be a tough matchup no matter the location, Lehigh opens league play at home against Loyola on Sept. 18 and seven days later takes on the defending champion American Eagles on the road on Sept. 25.
A three-game homestand starts on Sept. 29 against Bucknell, followed by an Oct. 2 matchup vs. Army West Point and concluding with a battle against MAC opponent West Virginia on Oct. 5.
Lehigh heads back on the road on Oct. 10 to face Holy Cross and comes home six days later to face Lafayette in the 119th edition of The Rivalry.
Ivy League opponents return to the schedule for the first time since 2019 as Lehigh hosts Princeton on Oct. 19.
Three of the Mountain Hawks' final four contests of the regular season are on the road, as Lehigh visits the Yard on Oct. 23 to take on Navy. Defending Big East Champion Seton Hall is Lehigh's final non-league opponent of the year on Oct. 27 before hosting Boston University on Oct. 30 in the home finale.
The Mountain Hawks finish the regular season on Nov. 3 at Colgate, mirroring the season finale this past spring.
The Patriot League Tournament is back to six teams in 2021, beginning with the Quarterfinal round on Nov. 6, the Semifinal round on Nov. 9 and the Championship Game on Nov. 13.
As always, the schedule is subject to change and times are still to be decided. Select games will be streamed live on ESPN+ (subscription required).
