Seniors sweep Men's Soccer's spring 2021 awards slate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The spring 2021 season didn't end the way that the team wanted it to, but the campaign as a whole in a shortened year was a learning experience for the Lehigh men's soccer team and the success that it had was due in part to the leadership of the senior class.
Three seniors swept the annual team awards slate this season, handed out by head coach Dean Koski and his coaching staff.
The Scholar Athlete Award is selected by the coaching staff and teammates and given to the player who meets the expected GPA requirements. This season's winner is defender Jonathan Blaine, who has earned a 3.64 cumulative GPA in his academic career. Blaine was named an Academic All-Patriot League selection and scored the first goal of his career at Loyola Maryland back on March 27.
The Coaches Award is given to the player who made substantial contributions to the team's dynamic in regard to attitude, improvement or special leadership. Defender Tyler Dressman earned the award for the campaign. Dressman has been a key member of the backline during his four years with the Mountain Hawks and anchored the line this season at centerback. He played five games, making a start in four of them.
Defensive midfielder Stevo Bednarsky is the program's Outstanding Athlete Award recipient for the spring 2021 season. Bednarsky became a three-time All-Patriot League selection, earning First Team laurels for the second consecutive season. The two-time captain made a start in four contests for the Mountain Hawks and missed the end of the campaign due to injury. Bednarsky was named a candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award earlier in the season and hopes to return to the field for Lehigh in the fall, taking his fifth year of eligibility.
Eight members of the program earned letters for the first time in their careers including Blaine, Thatcher Cooper, Dominic Flowers, Jack Sarkos, Austen Carranza, Hassane Diakho, Blake Koski and Nolan Jetter.
