Mountain Hawks Continue Winning Streak, Top Bucknell 20-7

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's lacrosse team jumped out to leads of 4-0 and 8-1, on the way to downing visiting Bucknell, 20-7 on Saturday afternoon at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Sophomore Emma Eberhardt led the offense with nine points to tie a career high via six goals and three assists. Senior Cecily Redfern posted a career-high five points (three goals, two assists) while also tallying seven draw controls, three groundballs and a caused turnover. The win is the Mountain Hawks' fourth straight as they improve to 4-2 on the season, including 3-0 in the Patriot League and 2-0 in the South Division.
Graduate student Sondra Dickey scored twice while adding five draw controls, two groundballs and two caused turnovers. Junior Nora Giordano and sophomore Katia Carnevale also scored twice, while sophomore Gabby Schneider recorded a goal and three assists.
In addition, freshman Olivia Memeger and sophomore Julia Skillin each scored their first-career goals in the second half.
Defensively, Dickey, senior Samantha Sagi and junior Emma McGillis each caused a pair of turnovers.
Eberhardt scored four of Lehigh's first six goals as the Mountain Hawks took an 8-1 lead just 18:53 into the contest. Eberhardt added a fifth goal and an assist before the first half was over, as Lehigh took a 10-3 lead into halftime.
The Bison had two mini 2-0 runs in the second half, but the Mountain Hawks answered with four and six-goal surges. After Bucknell pulled within 14-7, Lehigh ended the game on a 6-0 run – holding the Bison scoreless for the game's final 19:28 – to wrap up the 20-7 win.
Final shots were 39-17 in favor of Lehigh while the Mountain Hawks led in groundballs (20-15). Bucknell held a 16-13 edge in draw controls. Sagi made five saves for Lehigh across a pair of goalkeepers, who combined for 12 for the Bison.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action next Saturday when they travel to No. 13 Loyola to face the Greyhounds. Gametime is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
