Mountain Hawks Compete at ITA Regionals in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA – Six members of the Lehigh women's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Championships over the weekend at Penn's Hamlin/Hecht Tennis Centers. Four of Lehigh's five singles entrants and two of its three doubles teams went 1-1 on the weekend with wins in opening round action.
In singles action, junior Ella Imhof opened with a 6-2, 7-5 win over April Sanchez of Hofstra and classmate Junmoke James posted a 6-1, 6-1 opening round win over Ling-Hsuan Wei of Temple. First-year players Hamsa Javagal and Allyce Gaborik also posted first round victories. Javagal beat Ambre Amat of Buffalo in three sets, while Gaborik won 6-2, 6-3 over Smriti Singh of Fairleigh Dickinson.
Doubles play saw Imhof and James team up for an 8-6 win over a team from Rider in the opening round. Javagal teamed with sophomore Rachel Buchinsky on an 8-5 victory over a team from Seton Hall.
Buchinsky also played in the singles draw, while Lehigh's third doubles team consisted of Gaborik and senior Anshika Singh.

The Mountain Hawks will conclude their fall season at Army's West Point Invite, Oct. 15-17.
