BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Riding high after back-to-back wins to start the season, the Lehigh women's lacrosse team remains on the road on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks travel to Penn State. Opening draw at Panzer Stadium is set for 3 p.m. on BTN Plus. The Nittany Lions will serve as the Mountain Hawks' toughest test of the season to date, as Lehigh will be vying for its first-ever victory vs. Penn State.

Saturday will be an extra special game for Lehigh first-year assistant coach Katie O'Donnell, who was a multi-time All-American midfielder at PSU. She also won a Big Ten Championship as a player, and reached two Final Fours. Today, O'Donnell is on the sidelines for a Mountain Hawks' team that stands 2-0 following convincing wins over Iona (16-5) and UMBC (17-11). Lehigh received balanced, strong contributions all over the field. The key stretch came late in the first half as the Mountain Hawks scored six-of-seven goals to turn a 4-3 lead into a 10-4 halftime advantage.
Senior Sondra Dickey led the offense with a career-high seven goals and eight points (which tied a career high). Freshman Katia Carnevale tallied five goals and two assists, including a highlight-reel behind-the-head goal in the first half, which ended up as SportsCenter's No. 4 Play of the Day.

All three of Lehigh's first-year starting attackers had five or more points as Carnevale, Gabby Schneider (one goal, five assists) and Emma Eberhardt (two goals, three assists) combined for 18 via eight goals and 10 assists. Schneider is currently the NCAA leader for assists with eight. Eberhardt also finished an impressive backhand goal in the second half Tuesday. The win was capped off by sophomore Jackie Stoller's first-career goal.
Junior Hannah Cermack posted a career-high eight draw controls to help Lehigh hold a 19-11 edge in that category. Junior Cecily Redfern also had five draws, and a goal. Defensively, the Mountain Hawks caused 11 of the Retrievers' 15 turnovers, many coming on the ride. Carnevale and sophomore Jenna Garden each recorded three caused turnovers to lead the way.

Penn State is 1-0 entering Saturday's contest, coming off a 12-9 win at Towson. The Tigers held a 28-22 edge in shots, but Nittany Lion goalkeeper Taylor Suplee stopped 12-of-21 shots sent her way to earn Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors. Offensively, Sophia Triandafils scored four goals while Maria Auth tallied three. Penn State, who made the Final Four in 2016 and 2017, have struggled a bit over the last two seasons. The Nittany Lions were 10-10 in 2018 (losing in the NCAA Tournament first round to Penn) and 8-9 in 2019 (falling short of the NCAA Tournament).

Penn State leads the all-time series with Lehigh, 27-0. Last season, the Mountain Hawks fell 15-5. Two years ago, Lehigh fell just a little short, falling at home to then No. 12 PSU by a 14-13 final.

Following Saturday's game, the Mountain Hawks play their third straight road game when they travel to Vanderbilt on Saturday, Feb. 22 to face the Commodores.
