Mountain Hawks scheduled for two competitions on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Getting into the busy part of its schedule, the Lehigh men's track and field team will be competing two events this weekend, both on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks will have athletes competing at the Moravian Invitational inside Rauch Fieldhouse, while then having the majority of their squad attend the UPenn Select at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, N.Y.

Last time out, Lehigh and Bucknell went toe-to-toe at the Angry Birds Challenge. Both Patriot League schools didn't back down from one another, making it an entertaining event for parents, coaches, student-athletes and fans. Freshman Ian Scott shined inside Rauch Fieldhouse, as the freshman won his first two collegiate events in the high jump (1.95) and the triple jump (13.91). Matt Kravitz used a charge halfway through the 800m race to win for the Brown and White, while Seth Slavin and Nick Norton picked up wins in the 5000m and the 3000m in long distance running.

As a team, the Mountain Hawks won five events, while 10 athletes broke PRs. The 145 points that were scored gave Lehigh a second-place finish, rolling past Sacred Heart, Fairleigh Dickinson, Saint Joseph's and American.

On Saturday, Lehigh will look to add to its win totals as they will multiple athletes compete in two locations. First, at the Moravian Indoor Invitational, which is hosted by Moravian inside Rauch Fieldhouse, the Mountain Hawks will only have Bartlomiej Bancewicz (800m), Sean Campiglia (3000m), Quinn Conlan (weight throw), Ethan Davis (mile), Matthew Fisher (60mH, HJ, LJ), Vincent Polignano (60mH, HJ), John Siani (60mH, HJ, LJ) and Nick Wilson (3000m) competing.

Along with the Mountain Hawks, 15 other teams will compete inside Rauch on Saturday. Those teams include Bryn Mawr, Colgate, DeSales, East Stroudsburg, Eastern, Felician, Gwynedd Mercy, Immaculata, Lafayette, Medgar Evers, Muhlenberg, Saint Joseph's, Stevens Institue, Widener and York College.

Lehigh will send the majority of its roster to Staten Island for the UPenn Select including top athletes Kyle Sult, Joey Kelly, Zach DeLone, Evan El-Halawani, Adam Freesman, Samuel Tapera, Ian Scott, Matt Kravitz, Seth Slavin, Nick Norton, Sean Brown andJeffrey Kirshenbaum. The Mountain Hawks will look to add to their strong start, hoping to notch top finishes. Along with Lehigh, Cornell, Fordham, Penn, Stony Brook and Wagner will complete 6-team field.

The John Covert Classic will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday with the weight throw, while the UPenn Select will get underway at 4:00 p.m. with field events and running events at the same time.
