HAMILTON, N.Y. – Tied 3-3 at the half, Colgate scored 13 of the 14 second-half goals to surge past the Lehigh women's lacrosse team, 16-4 on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Hannah Cermack pulled the Mountain Hawks within 6-4 with 22:33 on the clock, but the Raiders ended the game on a 10-0 run. With the loss, Lehigh falls to 0-5 in Patriot League play and will look to bounce back next Saturday at home vs. Holy Cross on Senior Day. Gametime is set for 12 p.m.
Junior Sondra Dickey led the offense with two goals on the afternoon while Cermack and senior Kellie Gough had the others. Dickey added six draw controls.
A low-scoring first half didn't see a goal until the 17:41 mark, as Dickey scored from junior Christine Balestra. The Mountain Hawks went up 2-0 on Gough's goal at 11:18.
Gough scored three straight, but a Dickey free-position goal at 2:13 pulled Lehigh even at 3-3 at the half.
Lindsay West began the second half with three straight goals for the Raiders. Cermack answered, but that's when Colgate took over, scoring 10 goals in the game's final 16:01 to pull away for the victory.
Final shots were 38-19 in favor of the Raiders while Colgate held a 7-4 edge in groundballs and 12-10 advantage in draw controls. Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Sagi was strong in stopping 14-of-28 shots sent her way.
The Mountain Hawks return home next Saturday (Apr. 13) to host Holy Cross at 12 p.m. in a rematch of last season's Patriot League Quarterfinal thriller, a 16-15 overtime victory for Lehigh.
